Generally a mildly acidic coffee, light-bodied but flavorful and aromatic, Peruvians generally resemble the coffees of Mexico. Like Mexican, it is considered a "good blender" owing to its pleasant but understated character. Peru's are often used in dark roasts and as a base for flavored coffees. We recommend coffee from the Chanchamayo Valley which is about 200 miles east of Lima in the Andes Mountains. The Cuzco region also produces a well respected washed coffee as well as good Certified Organic coffees (we carry a Hard Bean Type Cuzco which is OCIA Certified). These coffees are promoted not only as a way of protecting the American consumer's health, but more importantly, as a way of supporting sustainable agriculture and better and healthier life for Peruvian growers involved in the cooperatives.
