Methylene Chloride Method

In this process moistened coffee beans are placed in contact with the chemical Methylene Chloride. The beans swell making the caffeine accessible to extraction and are placed in contact with the chemical which acts as a solvent drawing the caffeine out of the coffee bean. Once the desired decaffeination level is achieved, the beans are removed and dried and are ready for roasting. Our popular MC decaf products include:

Colombian U.S. Preparation
Colombian European Preparation
Central (mild) blend
