Known throughout the coffee world for its superior quality, Kenyan coffee is grown in the rich volcanic soils of the highlands at an altitude between 1500 and 2100 meters. Production problems have led to exceedingly high prices although the situation seems to be improving of late. The main grades offered are:

Kenya "AA" Top quality from Kenya provides full bodied cup with "winey" acidity.
Kenya "AB" Slightly lower in grade and cup, trades at a discount to AA for those who will be grinding the end product.

Kenya's neighbor to the south, Tanzania is home of some of the finest coffees in the world. The rich volcanic soil of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest mountain, and Mount Meru in the North provide ideal coffee growing conditions. Clean acidity and full body describes the best of Tanzania's exports the grades are similar to Kenya namely AA, A, B, C and PB.
